Dear jewellery is a precious collection, a daily essential for all jewellery lovers. If you wish your gems, crystal, pearls, silver to remain sparkle and become the admiration and attraction among your friends and colleagues, do not fail to protect and cherish them. In order for the lovely piece to last, it is worth being properly taken care of. The following are some care & handling tips that we offer to you.

Remove your jewellery once you are at home.

Clean the jewellery with a dry cloth unless otherwise as advised on the care instruction stated by the jewellery seller.

Keep all your jewellery in an airtight container or zip lock bag if possible, else a closed jewellery box is advisable.

Never leave/store your jewellery in the bathroom especially silver jewellery as metals and some gems are afraid of damp.

It is necessary to keep your jewellery away from heat and sunlight as they may make your jewellery loses its original color.

No-Tarnish Strips – put no-tarnish strips in with your jewelleries and change the strips every two to three months.

Chalk – another substitute of no-tarnish strips is Chalk. Put a few pieces of chalkboard chalk in with your jewellery. The chalk works similarly to the strips, absorbing the airborne substances that cause tarnish. Chalk should also be changed every couple of months.

Silver Tarnish Cloth – wrap your jewellery with Silver Tarnish Cloth, also known as Pacific Cloth, which is available at any fabric stores. It also works well too if you cut pieces of it to fit inside the drawers or compartment of your jewellery box.

Quick Wipedown – give each piece of jewellery a quick wipe with a Sunshine cloth or other jewelry cleaning/polishing cloth after wearing it. This will help remove dirt/things that settled on the surface of your jewellery while it was out of its closed storage, and this will help prevent tarnish from forming.

Gold and silver, diamonds and precious gemstones Jewellery mining industry has always been one of the most profitable industries influencing lives of many people and creating and serving the rich, famous and elite. Gold and diamond jewellery is very popular with affluent people as a status of wealth and power. And even diamonds have been quoted as women’s best friend, for it has driven desire and passion.

But, behind the shimmer and glitter of gold, silver and diamond jewellery hides a very shocking reality, a reality that most of us are unaware of. The jewellery industry faces perilous problems that affect not only the people in the gold and diamond industry but also our environment. And the question that we need to ask ourselves is “Are the prices of our gold and silver jewellery and diamonds worth the cost of the lives and environmental damage caused by the jewellery mining industry?”

A lot of researches have been conducted on the gold and diamond industry since the issues of “Dirty Gold Mining” and “Blood Diamonds” have been raised. Gold mining has been associated with violence and conflict and became one of the dirtiest industries in the world because of the environmental and human rights violations, land and waterways toxicity, displacing many people from their land and livelihoods. This does not only happen in the gold mining industry it also applies to the diamond industry. Perhaps one of the most popular ethical issues in the jewellery industry was in Zimbabwe regarding the so called “blood diamonds” which have referred to by International inspectors because of the human rights abuses it caused to miners in this country.

It is our social responsibility to do business in accordance with human rights and environmental awareness. Thus, jewellery retailers over the world initiated campaigns against malpractices in gold and diamond mining industry and pledged to source gold and diamonds jewellery in accordance with human rights, social and environmental standards and guidelines. However, the effectiveness of the programme still depends on the efficiency and benevolence of the governments, police and the forces across all the territories in which it operates.

Jewellers and retailers will suffer the consequences of unethical and irresponsible practices in the jewellery mining industry If consumers see them in complicit with unethical and irresponsible practices in the trading and sourcing of “blood diamonds” or “dirty gold”. One of the International programmes that promotes ethical and responsible trading and sourcing of gold and diamond jewellery is the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). The council initiates and sets guidelines and standards in giving certification on looking after the issues on environmental performance, social aspects, labour, human rights and business ethics.

We too can help in cleaning up the gold and diamond jewellery industry by not buying from jewellers who patronise dirty gold and blood diamonds mining. It is our own small way to make a big contribution in improving the quality of the gold and diamond jewellery industry and the lives behind the dazzling and shimmering gold, silver and diamond jewellery that you wear.

But how will you know that your favourite jeweller does not patronise dirty gold and blood diamonds? At the present it is impossible to know the real source of gold. Gold jewellery comes from various sources: two-thirds of the metal comes from gold mining and the rest from recycling with around twenty percent coming from old stock and thirteen percent from banks. The Responsible Jewellery Council is an international, not-for-profit organisation established to reinforce consumer confidence in the jewellery industry by advancing responsible business practices throughout the diamond and gold jewellery supply chain.

And with the case of diamonds, there is what they called the Kimberly Process Certification that monitors diamond mining and gives the assurance that the diamonds were not mined under abusive conditions. This refers not only to labour, human rights or social conditions but environmental performance as well. As a consumer, one way you can avoid buying and patronising blood diamonds is by requesting information about the source of the diamond from the jeweller, and by refusing to purchase diamond jewellery that sourced from Zimbabwe or mined under abusive conditions.

There are a lot of online jewellery store that sells high quality gold and silver jewellery and diamonds. Gold and Silver Jewellery Shop supports ethical jewellery trade practices and does not patronise abusive sourcing and mining of gold and diamonds. You can make a change in cleaning up the malpractices in the jewellery industry while enjoying the satisfaction and feeling of confidence, power and beauty with gold and silver jewellery and diamonds.

Help save the jewellery industry. Buy your gold and silver jewellery only at http://www.goldandsilverjewelleryshop.com for assurance of high quality jewellery that are sourced from non- dirty gold and blood diamond mining.

The appeal of handmade jewelry seems to have taken over the ornament industry by storm. Be it bangles, bracelets, ear rings or ever neckpieces, more and more people seem to prefer to buy hand crafted ornaments rather than settle for machine made repetitions. Those who want to stand apart from the crowd and prefer to purchase unusual jewellery will find that their desire shall find fruit in the handmade ornaments section of the jewellery shop.

While platinum and gold are highly preferred metals, when it comes to handmade ornaments, silver is still lurking in the background somewhere since the basic intent of silver jewellery is the keep the price on the lower end. Handmade jewellery takes a longer time to produce than machine made ornaments do and the artisans also invest more time and effort into making these pieces. This is one of the main reasons as to why handmade ornaments cost more than machine made jewellery.

The advantages of handmade jewelry are several. It is a fact that in case of damage, jewellery crafted by artisans can be fixed at much lower costs as opposed to machine made jewellery. In the case of the latter, it usually means melting the entire piece and starting from scratch again. In the case of handmade ornaments, the artisan simply needs to fix the fault without having to bother with the rest of the piece.

One also has the option of re-designing the ornament into another pattern at very low cost when it comes to handmade jewellery. Machine made ornaments cannot be re-designed with as much ease and the cost of recycling goes up so high that one might as well simply buy another piece rather than change the design of the present one.

Another huge advantage of handmade ornaments is that they allow for the artisans own creativity. The finesse and the style of the ornament, reflects the standard of the artisans expertise and so each artisan tries to create unusual jewellery that is pleasing and attractive. There is no personal pride in machine made jewellery and this is that reason why mostly these pieces are quite literally, run of the mill.

When purchasing handmade jewellery from a jewellery shop, keep in mind that one should exercise the same caution as when buying machine made jewellery. Mostly the purity of the metal will be crafted on the jewellery item itself, but one must seek a certificate of authentication too. Make sure you do not ignore the stones that have been incorporated into the design and seek a carat and weight certificate for them too. Do inquire about how much you are paying as labour charges and carefully consider if the ornament is worth it.

If you know someone that is likes shoes then what better gift could you give them than a high heel shoe necklace. Made out of sterling silver they will really appreciate the time and care that has gone into making this quality piece of silver jewellery.

Silver has been known since ancient times and has long been valued as a precious metal, used to make ornaments, jewellery, high-value tableware and utensils and currency coins. Mined right back in 4000BC in Turkey which was then called Anatolia, the main source of silver now is from Peru and Mexico. To the Egyptians, gold was considered to be the perfect metal, and gave the symbol of a circle to it. Since silver was the next best to gold in terms of perfection, it was given a semi-circle for it’s symbol. This semi-circle later changed through time and led to a moon symbol, due to the similarity between the shining metal being like the glowing moon light. The Romans gave silver the name of argentum, which is still used today as the international name of the element, from where its chemical symbol of Ag comes from.

Commercial-grade fine silver is at least 99.9% pure silver, and purities greater than 99.999% are available. In silver jewellery a purity of 92.5% is used as above this and the silver jewellery becomes too soft and would not withstand everyday wear. This is where the term 925 silver comes from representing 925 parts silver out of 1000 with the other 7.5% traditionally made from copper. Silver is also mixed with gold to make white gold and is recently becoming more popular.

We have adorned ourselves with jewellery since time immemorial, so has the recession impacted on the jewellery we are buying?

Undoubtedly because of the record highs in gold prices this year, there has been a down turn in the in the sales of gold jewellery with silver jewellery and beaded costume jewellery becoming ever more popular.

However to see how the market has really changed, turn on the TV and observe the female newsreader and presenters most of whom are all wearing brightly coloured large pieces of costume jewellery. Browse through celebrity magazines and you will see the same pattern. Large beads strung on long chains in all colours and it seems the bigger and brighter the better.

Is this a case of bad times are here but I want to cheer myself up by wearing this gaudy trinket. Remember that colour can have a big affect on mood.

It’s not just at the cheaper end of the market with costume jewellery that we have seen this change. There has been a proliferation of charm jewellery with young women clambering for the latest must have bracelet which she can customise with individual beads and charms. One can only sympathise with any parent or boyfriend faced with the demand for the this latest craze as these items of jewellery don’t come cheap. By the time you have filled your bangle with those tacky charms, you will have kissed goodbye to several hundred pounds at the cheaper end or goods made in the far east. It is possible to pay into the thousands for these trinkets which are being mass produced and on sale on every high street and all over the web. Whatever happened to individuality and taste?

How quickly before this latest novelty wears off. This latest craze has sparked off a huge rush to copy these must haves and fakes are all over the internet at more realistic prices. At least shoppers can bag a bargain on items that are likely to fade out of popularity very fast as the fashion craze changes.

For those that would prefer something a little more tasteful and individual, even though times are tight, why not invest in a classy affordable item that will last for many years and won’t date. There are still many small independent designers in the UK producing beautiful quality hand crafted silver jewellery at prices to suit all budgets. In the UK we have lost much of our manufacturing base. lets not lose our jewellery designers.

Recently, according to a survey concerning the most glamorous women in the world conducted by the professionals, Michelle Obama is in the first place.

It’s no wonder that beauties such as Angelina Jolie or Gisele Bundchen was left behind. The reason can’t be simpler. What do you think will happen if such women appear like her appear in the office?

And Michelle Obama may have no special features on her face and figure. Nevertheless, she has a talent on the fashion trend and matching of costume and jewelry. Her figure, age, status, taste, and affection toward Tiffany jewelries make her the new icon of middle class women with more reference all over the worldAs to the women in managing level, they also have their true jewellery icon at last.

Michelle Obama likes to wear pearls, as we all know, but you know what she also tries to terrace the jewels. For instance, she ever wore Cartier jewelry upon Tiffany jewelry, winning most women’s compliments. The luxury and flaunt of the Mix&Match which both keeps the vision point and add the gradation make her nothing but the center of people’s attentions and admirations.

However, these brilliant jewelries are mainly for women with certain abilities, capacity, qualities, and experience. And these women really need a piece of bright diamond jewel in order to be confident among women in the same class.

But for the young girls, Mix&Match is just a fashion taste and diamond is too much expensive. They could choose some silver jewellery of other brands such as silver Tiffany jewelry or Channel.Keeping an eye on the first lady means focusing on the fashion trend and therefore, you will lead a wonderful life as an OL.

Euro-luxury pledges to bring customers a great selection of high quality Cartier jewelries, Tiffany jewelry, links of london jewellery, Gucci, and other brand jewelries at affordable prices.

If you know someone that likes England then what better gift could you give them than a tower bridge necklace or big ben necklace.
