Creating Your Own Modern Bead Bracelet

Friday, November 13th, 2009

If you are often looking for bracelets in the hope that you will spot something you would love to wear all the time, you might have come across the latest interest in bead bracelets.

This particular style of bracelet is ideal if you want something that is unique to you and since most of the beads are made in sterling silver, you can see that you are getting a high quality product here too.

You might be wondering how many different types of beads are available for this contemporary style of bracelet. The answer is a lot. Alongside the sterling silver ones there are ones that are made from coloured glass. You can also find some that are made in gold.

As you can see the beauty of this kind of bead bracelet is that it is unique to whoever wears it. Since you can wear a new one every day if you wish, there is no end to the combinations that can be achieved with one. You simply take off the beads you don’t want to wear that day, and pop on some new ones instead.

When it comes to making your own bracelet from scratch, it is important to think about the kind of beads you would want to have on it. For example, do you prefer a simple design or would something more ornate be a better fit for you?

Whatever the answer might be you can find some wonderful sterling silver beads to suit. If you are a great lover of your cup of tea, why not buy a teapot bead to thread onto your bracelet? Alternatively if you are always heading off on foreign holidays you could add a sterling silver suitcase to it instead.

This is the big advantage of this very modern way of creating a bracelet. You can choose exactly how the finished item will look – and even then you are free to buy more beads to change the design at any point in the future if you want to. What other bracelet gives you the freedom to do that?

This type of bracelet is known as a Chamilia bracelet. The beads are called Chamilia beads and you will find them in lots of different outlets now that they have become popular.

If you have never designed your own Chamilia bead bracelet before you will certainly enjoy doing so now. Just be sure to keep a separate jewellery box handy for any spare beads you buy in the future though. Since this is a bracelet that can be changed and updated as necessary, you can enjoy as many different versions of it as you like.

Silver 925 jewellery best to buy

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Most of us go for silver 925 today instead of the bulky & expensive gold. But when it comes to taking care of our silver they fail miserably. Half of us do not know how to give this white metal the cater they need. The remaining is not bothered about it because the cost of silver is less & they can buy it anytime. they forget that silver  has a resell value & they’re becoming  popular. So you better take care of your existing silver items because the price is going to rise soon.

There are simple steps to take care pf your silver items. Remember to remove them when you’re doing your hard household chores. it is better not to wear them during games & high physical activities. During bathing the chlorine from the water tend to spoil it. So it is advisable to remove them while bathing. Keep them away from harsh chemicals & paints. These products are abrasive for the silver 925. Keep your jewellery away from moisture. If you’re not using them, it is better to keep them packed in a dry case. Place individual piece separately & away from other metals. Moreover, if various metals are placed together they can have ugly scratch marks. Do not tie your silver wear with rubber bands because rubber contains sulfurous substances which are harmful for the metal.

sometimes sterling silver 925 will react with the skin leaving a black or blue tarnish on the metal. This is nothing serious & easily removed using the normal cleaning processes. This happens because of medication or body’s chemicals. If you keep wearing them for few days, the tarnish will get removed naturally. You might also have a blue mark on the skin especially with silver rings. it is advisable to be going for rhodium plated silver which is neutral & does not cause any chemical reaction. A simpler method would be to nail polish the inside of the ring!

Clean your polished silver with a soft lint free cloth or long term silver polish cloth saturated with polish. You can also use soapy water soak the items in & then clean them with soft bristled brush or tooth brush. There are various metal cleaners like Goddard’s Silver Dip which can be used but make sure of its contents. Harsh chemicals in these solutions can run your silver jewellery. Also remember to rinse & dry your silver before you pack them up again. Make sure that you do not store them wet. Use silica gel packs in your jewellery storage to keep the air dry. Prevent using scents & perfumes directly on them as they can tarnish this white metal. Try to wear your jewellery as much as possible. The body oils actually protect the silver wear from getting tarnished.
